Throughout the village a cry went up,
"A fishing vessel on the rocks!
We need all hands, no time to lose!
God help them, we must save the crew!"

A mother knew her only son
Was on that boat. She needs make haste!
A choking sob tore from her throat
Terrified at what she may face.

Rain lashed hard as she strode forth
A desperate prayer broke from her lips,
"Oh please, dear Lord. Please save my boy!
That we may both celebrate in joy!"

A fearsome sight her eyes did meet
As cruel rocks tore at the ship
It shuddered like a living thing
A broken back as timber's ripped.

Some heads appeared in angry spray
As ragged waves with them did play
Clawed hands reached up towards the sky
Struggling for life another day.

The woman stood high upon a cliff
Praying God's mercy would not fail
She screamed the name of her dear son
Answered only by a mocking gale.

A heavy hand upon her shoulder lay
"Come away, my dear. His soul's at peace."
Overwhelmed now by her draining grief
Threw herself over, her courage had ceased.

She would join her son in death
And plummeted down with breathy rasp
The cruel sea would have them both
And took her body in its clasp.

Nearby from out the boiling sea
A young man crawls, himself to save
And turns around in time to see
His mother perish in a watery grave.
Another death one!!!!
